Ryan Murphy gave us the setting last night at an Academy of Television Arts & Sciences event He said: [the show] "is set on the East Coast at an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica." He also said: "take place in “a completely different time period," and more people from the first season could be coming back? ....
He said, "The idea is to work with actors that you love and are excited by. The
second season, everybody who was announced, there will be other people
up on this stage who are not announced who will also be in it but are
playing the polar opposite of what they were in the first season in
every way," he said.
Okay so, what can we figure out with that information? Well, I think Ryan put more hints in seasons #1 that he is letting on, I found some here. So while he feels that only Paula Dean's speech to Constance and Violet is worthy of season 2 spoilery, I'm thinking Mr. Murphy has a few more sneaky wits about him. Maybe he thinks he gave away too much now that things are coming together and he could want to keep us guessing some more.(see this hints for season 2 post)
Let's talk about that license plate again. The Spirit of America? That's
bicentennial stuff. As Ryan says it will be placed in a different time,
are we talking 1776? Perhaps when New England was more new?
